  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until ‘delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset.

S4 Unfortunately Apps Have Stopped

Problem:My phone keep saying unfortunately, apps or things that are running has stopped. I had my phone flash thinking that would have corrected the problem but the phone begins to freeze and when i remove the battery and put it back in to restart it does restart. I have to do the process of removing the battery about 4 times.

Solution: You mentioned that you has your phone flashed. Did you flash it using the original stock firmware or with a custom ROM? If your phone freezes a lot then you should double check the version of the firmware that you flashed on your device. There are different firmware versions available for the different versions of the S4 and it is important to install the version that is compatible with your device. Installing a different firmware on your phone may lead to issues such as this.

If you are using the correct firmware version and the problem still persists then I suggest you try wiping the cache partition of your phone first.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key
  • When the phone vibrates, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  • Press the Power key to select. The phone will automatically restart after the cache is wiped.

If the problem persists then backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.
  • When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until ‘delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.
